Following her splendid second place in the National Indoor pentathlon championship at Sheffield last weekend Elise Lovell from Hastings has been selected to represent Great Britain in the Indoor Pentathlon event at Prague at the end of the month.
Lovell set two personal bests during the competition clocking 8.65s in the 60m hurdles, the opening event, and her total of 3778 was also her best while her long jump of 5.96m was close to her indoor best. Lovell will join Jessica Taylor-Jemmett from Manchester, last weekend’s winner, who is the 2014 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist.
There is more Indoor activity this weekend when several of the leading Sussex athletes, both male and female will be competing in the South of England senior and under 20 indoor championships at Lee Valley.
The Sussex Schools Cross Country championships will be held at Waterhall, Brighton on Wednesday starting at 12.15 with the junior girl’s race. Full details of these races are on the Schools page on the Sussex Athletics website.
