Just as cricket needs umpires, football and rugby need referees, and netball needs umpires, athletics also relies on volunteer officials to make competition possible. They play a vital role in ensuring events are run fairly, safely and in line with the rules.
Sussex is currently short of qualified officials and, unless more people come forward, we risk meetings and matches being cancelled.
It is easy to get involved. You do not need any previous experience, and you will be supported by both the county and your club. It is also a rewarding way to play your part and help the sport thrive.
