Sussex School’s race walkers captured two South East Regional titles when the events were held in conjunction with the Combined Events competition at Ashford over the weekend.
Competing in the Over 15 age group 3,000m races Eva Payton-White took the Girls title in 17:49.7s while Ollie Hopkins won the Boys race in 15:18.9s.
It was not a vintage year for the Combined Events even though there were two third places in the team events and an individual bronze medal in the Junior (U15) boys Pentathlon.
Seb Wallace strung together a fine series of performances, 11.6s for the 80m hurdles, 10.49m in the shot putt, a long jump of 6.00m, 1.67m in the high jump and 2:28.9s for the 800m to score 2681 points for his third place that will assure him of a place in the England Schools finals in September.
Regan Law scored 2349 points to finish tenth and Cameron Wells 2026 in 22nd place to give Sussex third team place with 7055 points.
There was another third team spot for the Junior girls team with 8531 points with Cleo Tomlinson scoring 2963 points in sixth individual place having clocked 11.9s in the hurdles, putt the shot 9.03m, high jumped 1.52s, long jumped 5.34m and run the 800m in2:45.4s.
Isabelle Humphreys finished an excellent eighth with 2887 points and Katie Ridley placed 13th with 2681 points.
April Hanslow and Liam Hennessey were the only Sussex performers in the Senior age groups with Hanslow placing fifth in the Girls Heptathlon with 3488 points while Hennessey finished 11th in the Boys Decathlon with 4457 points.
