Eleven CBPs at Sussex Schools

11 June, 2018 By Sussex AA

My apologies for missing three Championship Best Performances when doing yesterday’s report of the Sussex Schools championships which were held at Crawley on Saturday.

There were in fact an amazing eleven CBPs broken which must be the most for many years if not ever.

On top of the eight listed in yesterday’s report Millie Noyce from Mid Sussex added more than two metres to the three year old Inter (U17) shot putt mark with a personal best effort of 13.08m while in the Junior boys 300m Justice Schwerdnter (BHP) was a clear winner in 37.44s which removed the two year old CBP.

In the Junior boy’s 100m, like Schwerdnter a newcomer to County athletics, Timi Esan (Ouse Valley) removed one tenth of a second from the four year old CBP with a clear victory in 11.4s.

There was also a CBP equalling performance in the Junior girl’s pole vault when another Ouse Valley athlete, Emilie Oakenden, cleared 3.05m to match the mark set three years ago and the establishment of a new CBP       in the Junior girl’s 300m, which was being held for the first time.

Tracy Linus from South Downs won that event in 42.60s.

This was probably one of the best championships for many years.

The first two athletes in the Intermediate and Junior age groups have been invited to compete for Sussex in the South East Schools Inter-county match at Crawley this coming Saturday.
