A busy weekend for Sussex athletes

22 June, 2018 By Sussex AA

Following last weekend Schools Inter-county match there is more Inter-county competition this week with the Regional Schools Combined Events final at Ashford on Saturday and Sunday and the Senior Inter counties at Chelmsford on Sunday.

Sussex Schools will be taking teams in both the Junior (U15) Pentathlon events with Cleo Tomlinson, Isabelle Humphreys, Ruby Jerges and Katie Ridley lining up for the Girls and Seb Wallace, Regan Law and Cameron Wells for the Boys where Sussex won the English Schools title last year.

Adam Lindo will compete in the Intermediate (U17) boy Octathlon while April Hanslow competes in the Senior (U19) Heptathlon and Liam Hennessey in the Senior Boys Decathlon.

The lack of finding a Team manager early meant that County Administrator Kate Matthews has assembled a squad to travel to Chelmsford. Geoff Hill and Fiona Clark have kindly volunteered to lead the team on the day. Coming, as it does, on the same weekend of the third round of the Southern Athletics League has made team selection very difficult.

Lewes/Haywards Heath are the only Sussex team who have the luxury of a home match although both the East Grinstead and Hastings clubs will be amongst the visitors.
