Victory for Crawley at Woking in YDL

5 May, 2018 By Sussex AA

What a difference a week makes. In stark contrast to the Lower Age Group, the county's U17 and u20's were competing in cold and breezy conditions for their first 2018 fixture.

In Division 1A, Crawley travelled to Woking where they achieved a 45 point victory, scoring 667.5 to host team Camberley AC and Woking's 622.5.

There was a winning performance in the javelin from u20 Scott Staples (57.82m) and English Schools (ESAA) qualifying marks from Joe Massimo with 21.8s over 200m and from u17's Katie Bristowe - who ran 11.5s over the 80m Hurdles - and Millie Noyce in the shot with 12.59m.

Meanwhile Brighton & Hove AC and Chichester Runners went south to Bournemouth. Here Brighton were second with 426 points, 150 behind the emphatic winners Southampton AC. Chichester came home fourth with 301 points.

There were more ESAA qualifying marks with u20M Edan Cole throwing 58.98m to win the javelin and u17W Kelsey Sutherland leaping 11m in the Triple Jump for victory.

For the YDL League Sussex clubs; Eastbourne, Lewes AC, East Grinstead and Haywards Heath Harriers combine to become 'Team Sussex'. They were competing at Eltham alongside Horsham Blue Stars. Hosts Cambridge Harriers won the fixture comfortably with 504 points to Team Sussex's 435 for second. A heavily depleted Horsham came seventh with 161 points. Eastbourne's U17M, Moyo Sargent, ran an ESAA qualifier over 200m  with 22.7s for third place.

Full results can be founf on Po10 and on the YDL site
