Sussex athletes are out and about this weekend with Rob Mullett (Lewes) and Amber Anning (Brighton & Hove) both on International Duty and the South East Schools Combined Events championships at Kings Meadow.
Mullett will be steeplechasing for Britain in the Euro Athletics match at Lille while Anning will be competing for the England Schools team in the 15th Jean Humbert Memorial ISF World Schools Athletics Championships at Nancy, France. Anning will compete in the 400m on Monday and the triple jump on Tuesday.
Following his crash in the Inter-county high hurdles last Saturday Alex Clayton has had to withdraw from the Sussex team and this, unfortunately, will rule him out of a place in September’s final.
Sussex appear to have strong Junior pentathlon teams with Cleo Tomlinson, Ruby Jerges, Isabelle Humphreys and Ornella Orfenov in the Girls team and Adam Lindo, Spike Gleave, Seb Wallace and Tom Ridley in the Boys team.
Another round of the YDL, Upper Age Group League will be held on Sunday with Crawley in Premier 1 at Reading, Brighton & Hove in One B at Bournemouth and Team Sussex in One C at Lewes.
