Under 15s Shine At Road Relays

It was gold for Brighton & Hove’s Under 15s at the Aldershot Road Relays at the weekend.

Saul Bennett got the Sussex team off to a solid start clocking 9.49, 9th fastest on the day, handing over to Thomas Matthews, who pushed the team into first place in a leg time of 10.01 (11th fastest on the day). The third leg was run by Finlay Goodman who in fine form extended the lead and ran the fastest 3k on the day – 9.29.

Fifty teams and 148 of the best athletes in the south took part in the Under 15 boys race.

Following in these footsteps were the Crawley under 15 girls made up of Rihanon Daniels, Katie Foss and Alice Cox. The trio finished third overall with Rihanon’s time of 10.51 6th fastest out of 119 athletes. Lewes AC’s Ava James leg time of 10.53 was 8th quickest on the day.

Earlier in the under 17 men, Alex Riley (Brighton & Hove AC) ran his 4.6k in 14.16, 4th fastest.

Later in the 6k senior races, the Brighton Phoenix over 50 men took gold with Steve Atkinson 1st individual in 22.03. whilst Brighton and Hove AC’s over 40s finished in silver position with Craig Halsey running the 4th leg in 20.16 – 2nd fastest overall.
