Sussex teams were all involved in tough matches in the Upper Age Group matches in the Youth Development League at the weekend.
Team results have not been published yet but Crawley seem, understandably, to have produced the best set of results in their Premier two league at Harrow.
Orla Brothers produced a couple of schools standard performances when winning the U20 200m in a personal best of 24.8s, despite still being a first year U17. Her second standard came with another win and another personal best in the U17 300m hurdles in 45.0s.
Also in the U17 age group Lillie Franks notched up a Schools standard in the high jump when clearing 1.70m for victory while in the same age group Lotte Hoare, recently transferred from Brighton & Hove, won the hammer throw with another standard throw of 42.30m.
It was quite a good weekend for some of the Sussex all-rounders with Beth Crocker popping up all over the place at Harrow but only striking victory in the U20 long jump with a standard leap of 5.42m.
Competing for Tonbridge, Sussex Schools U17 champion Joe Fuggle, clocked 56.7s to win the U17 400m hurdles in 56.7sec another standard performance.
At Southampton in Division South/West One A, the combined East Grinstead/Haywards Heath/Lewes squad, competing as Team Sussex and Brighton & Hove AC clashed, with Team Sussex getting the better of Brighton.
Combined eventers Katie Garland (Brighton & Hove) and Livvy Connor (Team Sussex) were in great early season form.
Garland notched up two schools standards in the U20 age group winning the 200m in 25.1s and leaping 5.73m to win the long jump and she notched a third personal best in the shot putt with 9.14 but had to settle for third place.
Connor notched up four victories and two standards winning the U20 100m hurdles in 15.7s, the long jump with 5.07m and her standards came in the pole vault where she cleared 3.50m and the triple jump where she bounced to 11.29m.
At Gillingham, where Horsham Blue Star were in action in North/West two Amy Fitzpatrick, in her first year in the U17 age group, had a standard breaking victory in the 80m hurdles in 12.4s while Chloe Billingham topped the standard in the U20 pole vault clearing 3.20m.
I did not notice any standard performances from the Chichester athletes in their South/West match at Uxbridge.
