The Growing 3K

5 September, 2019 By Kate Matthews

The County 3K Championships (U15 upwards) were held in conjunction with the U13 Final at the K2, Crawley.

With 56 entries, this year’s event promised to be bigger and better than before.

This definitely proved to be the case in the first race, which include U17 men upwards. In the senior category, Crawley’s Paul Navesey and Brighton and Hove’s Kevin Moore ran the 7 and half laps toe to toe but it was the Crawley athlete who pulled away in the end winning in 8:34.5.

Haywards Heath athlete, Adam Dray, was the clear winner in the U17 men’s race taking the title in a time of 8:34.5.

Under 17 Lewes runner, Harriet Bloor, led the pack in the next race winning gold in 10:21.7s. Rhiannon Dunlop (City of Portsmouth) was the first senior women across the line with Emily Proto (Arena 80) second.

The were a few hours until the Under 15 races where Horsham Blue Star were the stars of the day. Charlie Ferris taking the boys’ title in 10:11.76 and Sophie Morris the girls in 11:13.55.
