Sussex Youngsters Enjoy SE Regional Sportshall Final

8 March, 2018 By Sussex AA

The Sussex U13 and U15 Sportshall teams competed against 6 other counties at the South East Regional Final on 4th March at Burgess Hill. Both the U13 boys and girls teams finished in third place, the U15 girls in fourth place and the U15 boys just missed the National Final finishing second. The U13 boys obstacle relay team of Alex Booth, Ollie Bennett, Harvey Smith, and Charlie Bonwick Adams started the day well with a 2nd place, Harvey then went on to take 3rd with a PB of 85 in the speed bounce, Adam Lawson took a well-deserved 3rd in the 4 lap final and 4th in the standing long jump with 2.35m. Jabar Busari leapt to 1st place and PB in the vertical jump with 63cm, and Nicholas Hollan Ellidge totally smashed the 6 lap parlauf to win in 1.20.8 and then teamed up with Henry Yelling for a tactical run to take 2nd place in the 8 lap parlauf. In the Under 13 girls, Isabella Lehtinen and Noa Maoundus ran an exciting 2 lap final to finish joint 1st and 3rd respectively and then joined Michelle Okorie who had already won an amazing 4 lap final and Katie Ridley to take 2nd place in the 4x2 lap relay. Noa also won the vertical jump with 66cm. Ruby Wilson ran two very well timed races – winning the 6 lap parlauf and then teaming up with Mollie Barrett to win the 8 lap parlauf. Katie Bradley took 2nd in the shot with a PB of 10.08 and Keira Drewry took 1st place in the speed bounce with 85 jumps in 30 seconds. The U 15 teams compete as both a team and individual allrounders in three events and a relay. Poppy Oliver ( 13th allrounder) collected the most medals with 3rd in both the 4 lap 53.0 and the standing long jump 2.44m, she then joined Cleo Tomlinson ( 8th ) to win the 8 lap parlauf with a superb display of teamwork. Alicia Borrill (23rd) took 2nd in the vertical jump with a PB of 68cm. The girls 4x2 relay team of Ella Hannyngton (17th) Fleur Hollyer (28th) Alicia and Jess O’Flaherty (15th) finished the day with a 4th place. Tom Gilsenan Best (17th) was 3rd in the standing long jump with 2.61m, Adam Firsht (31st) and Tom Ridley (Reserve) ran an exciting 8 lap parlauf to finish 2nd. Seb Wallace (4th) jumped an 8m series in the triple jump taking 1st place with 8.18m, he then joined Daniel Tewogbade (23rd) Connor Fairhall (22nd) and Adam West ( 5th ) for the 4x2 lap relay where they finished 2nd this reflected their excellent performances for their overall team 2nd place.
