Sussex Schools Clash with South of England Championsips

10 June, 2015 By Sussex AA

Many of the leading Senior (U19) athletes will be missing from Saturday’s Sussex Schools Championships as they will be contesting the South of England U20 championships, which are being held in conjunction with the Senior Championships at Lee Valley.

Traditionally the County Schools championships are held on the second Saturday of June and, as last year, it comes rather late in the month where a clash should not really be unavoidable.

There are however some strong fields in the Intermediate (U17) and Junior (U15) age groups particularly in the Pole vault and Hammer events while the track events will no doubt provide some unexpected clashes as is normally the case.

The girls hammer throws, this event was introduced for juniors last year, has produced bumper entries and because of this the Junior boys throws will now be held at 11.00 instead of its scheduled 9.30.

Many athletes will be striving for an English Schools Standard as the Sussex team for the English Schools Championships at Gateshead in July will be selected after the weekend. If you are an athlete who has achieved an English Schools National or Entry standard this season make sure that we know.

You should send full details of your performance including the date and competition along with your name, date of birth, and address to reghook@ntlworld.com.
