Statement from Phil Baker

14 November, 2018 By Sussex AA

" League Secretary Phil Baker would like to express his thanks to race organisers Peter Witcomb and Kate Matthews and their team of officials and marshals who contributed to such a great day's racing on Saturday.

Stanmer Park has long been regarded as the home of Sussex cross country running and Saturday's fixture confirmed this as a fine venue with record fields in many of the age groups including well over 200 in the men's race and over 150 in the women's race for the first time.

The other big vote of thanks goes to our results coordinator Keith May with help from his wife Sue who had to input manually a record number of individuals and teams and managed to get the results out by lunchtime on Monday.

Our next fixture at Lancing Manor on 1st December is likely to attract similar numbers of runners pointing to a bumper season for Sussex cross country running.

Looking further ahead to the rest of the season, there is still a need for a venue for the proposed final fixture on Saturday 2nd March The cross country panel are looking at a number of options and venues but so far nothing has been settled, so if anyone in the county knows of a suitable venue with sufficient parking and good courses, please let us know."
