SoE championships – BMAF 10k champs.

10 August, 2018 By Sussex AA

Many Sussex youngsters are expected to travel to the Lee Valley Stadium this weekend for the U17 and U15 South of England Track and Field championships.

Following their superb performances at last month’s England Schools' Championships when the Sussex Schools U15 Girls won the team title and the Boys team finished second, there are high hopes for some of the athletes. That is if this most important event, does not clash with family holidays.

As it is the National championships for this age group in a couple of weeks time, some may have chosen to miss one event to contest the other, but it is a pretty difficult choice to make at what will be nearly the end of the season.

BMAF Championships.

At the other end of the age groupings last weekend a trio of Sussex veteran athletes travelled to Trentham Gardens near Stoke but not strictly for horticultural reasons.

They were there to compete in the BMAF 10k Road championships and there was a bronze medal in the Women’s W55 age group for Arena 80’s Caroline Wood in 44:22s.

Crawley’s Dave Beattie just missed medalling in the M70 race clocking 50:30s in fourth place while club mate Wally Hill clocked 48:22s for ninth place in the M65 group.
