A fantastic run at the SEAA Cross Country Championship saw Skye Widdows cross the line in silver place.
The Brighton & Hove youngster clocked 11.04 at the race at Beckenham Park – 11 seconds behind the under 13 girls’ winner.
For a first year in the age group, and with 166 athletes in the race, this is a great achievement.
Also achieving high were two Eastbourne AC teams.
First the under 15 boys, who have been leading the way in the Sussex AA league fixtures, scooped 3rd place.
With George Armstrong Smith 8th (14.31), Fin Lumber Fry 10th (14.35), Ben Wright 19th and Jonah Messer 49, the team scored 86 points.
The Eastbourne under 17 women went one better, scoring 84 points, for silver.
Raya Petrova was 10th(22.51) Daisy Connor 12th(23.07) Freda Pearce 15th (23.18) and Katy Brown 47th.
In the same race Ava James placed 11th in 22.54.
There were two top 15 finishers in the under 13 boys’ race with Harry Chapman (Lewes) 14th (10.51) and Xander Wagjiani (Crawley) 15th (10.51).
HYAC’s Isabella Buchanan placed 10th with Horsham’s Izzy Wheeler 12th in the under 15 girls.
Both under 20 women Amelia Cox (Crawley) and man Owen Wallek finished 15th in their respective races.
