Crawley’s Beth Crocker struck silver at the South of England Indoor combined events championships at Lee Valley at the weekend with series of fine efforts.
With a 60m hurdles in 9.68s a high jump of 1.62m shot put of 10.09m, a long jump of 5.43m and fine 800m clocking of 2:26.5s Crocker amassed 3486 points to finish less than 200s point behind Havering’s Michelle Hughes’ 3643 to take the silver medal.
Making his debut in the U20 Heptathlon Brighton & Hove’s Matt Smith finished in fifth place with 3811 points having achieved 7.84s for the 60m, 6.01m in the long jump, 9.91m in the shot putt, 1.77m in the high jump, 10.89s for the 60m hurdles, 2,80m in the pole vault and 3:02.59s for the 1,000m.
