School Girls seek medals at Bedford

18 September, 2015 By Sussex AA

The English Schools Combined Events and Race walking championships at Bedford on Saturday and Sunday, to all intents and purposes, brings the 2015 Track season to a close.

For the first time for several years Sussex Schools will not have a team in any of the age groups indeed there are only four Sussex athletes making the trip.

In the senior girl’s Heptathlon Katie Garland (Bexhill College) and Beth Crocker (Hurstpierpoint) will amongst those fighting for the individual medals.

Matt Smith (Blatchington Mill) has come into the intermediate boy’ Octathlon and these three will be in action on both Saturday and Sunday.

On Sunday Amber Anning (Roedean) will contest the junior girl’s Pentathlon and like the senior girls could well be fighting for a medal.

Also in action on Sunday will be race walkers Emily Ghose (Wadhyst) and Ollie Hopkins (Chailey).

The South of England Road Relays championships are also being held this weekend at Aldershot.

The Women’s and Young Athletes races are being held on Saturday and the Men’s and Men’s Masters on Sunday.
Clashing with the Sunday’s competition will be the Hove Prom 10km race which starts at 10.00am.
