Sussex athletes Seb Rodger from Eastbourne and Rob Mullett from Lewes, who had done exceptionally well to make the UK team for the Rio Olympic Games both missed making progress in their events on Monday.
Rodger clocking 49.54s for sixth place in his heat of the 400 metre hurdles was just squeezed out of a fastest loser placing for the semi-final while Mullett was well outside his best when finishing twelfth in his heat of the 3,000m steeplechase.
