Six athletes achieved championship best performances and a seventh equaled one at the David Weir Centre at the weekend.

There were more than 230 entries into the annual event, which is jointly organised with Surrey AA.

Eastbourne’s Bryn Smith was among these, clocking 6.93 in the senior men’s 60m, equaling Tom French’s 12 year record.
There was an array of triple jump records across the two day event with under 15 Alex Koloutsos (Brighton & Hove) leaping 10.19m, and three others breaking their own records.
These included senior woman Kuria Kenmochi (Sutton) jumping 12.16, under 17 woman Jaiten Best (Brighton & Hove) with 11.86m and under 15 Brighton & Hove boy, Louis Ashworth’s 11.11m.
In the under 20 women’s 60mH, Jessica Bliss (Brighton & Hove) ran 8.87 beating her 2024 record whilst under 15 pole vaulter, Luca Mindel (Lewes), got his CBP with 3.40m.
High Jumper, Dylan Calvey (Brighton & Hove) was just 1cm away from the record, taking the under 20 men’s gold with 1.94m.
The under 20 women’s long jump gold medal stayed in the same family with Hope Yelling winning with a 5.30 PB – last year her sister, Harriet, took the title and record with 5.45m.
Crawley’s Isabella Carroll finished the weekend with two under 13 girls’ gold medals in the 60m (8.58) and long jump (4.18m).
It was a repeat performance in the senior women’s 60m with the same three athletes taking the top three positions. This year Sophie Hogton (Crawley) placing 3rd, Praise Owoeye (Sale) 2nd and Adeline Preston (Crawley) 1st clocking 7.69 (just outside the CBP she set last year).
Amber Anning still holds the under 15 girls’ long jump record from 2015. She is currently in Europe preparing to compete in the European Indoor Athletics Championships, alongside Brighton Phoenix’s Grace Vans Agnew and George Mills.
