Lewes AC's Gemma Tutton and Worthing's Alice Howie shattered county records in their first outdoor competitions of 2024.
Now based at Duke's University in the USA and competing at the Hurricane Collegiate Invite, Tutton vaulted to a magnificent 𝟒.𝟑𝟎𝐦, obliterating her previous county best by 20 centimetres. This marked her first competition of the year following an injury. Gemma now ranks equal seventh on the British All-Time under 23 list.
Meanwhile, closer to home in Bournemouth, Alice Howie improved her Hammer performance by almost five metres, setting a new record of 𝟲𝟮.𝟰𝟰𝗺.and smashing Louisa James's 2010 Sussex U17 Women's record of 58.02m. Alice moves up 12 places to number seven on the British U17 All-time list. These opening performances augur well for the rest of the season.
