Record Breaking in Under 15 League matches.

There was a Sussex Under 15 record breaking spree last week when the second of this season Under 15 League matches were held.

In the East division at Lewes, on Wednesday the home club’s Sam Dunstall improved the boys long jump mark with a fine leap of 5.77, and Brighton & Hove’s Elizabeth Korczak upped the girls javelin throwing mark to 36.55m.

In the girls 800 metres the first two runners bettered the existing record with Rose Chaplin (Eastbourne), the County Champion managing to hold off Alex Nann (Brighton & Hove) in 2:22.3s to 2:23.0.

Two days later at Broadbridge Heath a third runner, Erin Bracknell (Crawley) also finished inside the record when winning in 2:22.8s but not quite as fast as Chaplin had achieved at Lewes.

At Broadbridge Heath Horsham’s Peanut Meekings removed Korczack’s two day old javelin record when winning with a fine throw of 36.75m while Chichester’s Liam Dunne improved the boys 1500m time with 4:19.2sec and Tom Ridley (Worthing), who was a member of the Sussex Schools winning pentathlon team the previous weekend, set a new personal best with a fine high jump of 1.82m.

Brighton & Hove won the East Division match from Lewes with 204 points to 165 with Eastbourne scoring 159 and Brighton Phoenix who scored 49 points.

Crawley took the West Division match with 256 points from East Grinstead on 178 and Horsham 176, Chichester on 159, Worthing 146 and Haywards Heath’s 28 points.
