Crawley women have gained promotion back to Division One of the UKWALg following their close battle with Sale at Leigh on Sunday.
The home club won the encounter with 229 points to Crawley’s 217 who were well clear of third placed Herts Phoenix and the final League placings saw Sale scored 23 points to Crawley’s 22 with both teams gaining promotion.
Kim Baptiste, who is having an excellent season, notched up an impressive sprint double clocking 11.51s for the 100 metres which, were it not for a following wind would have improved her recently set Sussex record and 23.69s to win the 200m and she also anchored the Crawley squad to second place in the sprint relay at the end of the afternoon.
Holly Turner duly took the “B” 100m in 12.16s and also won the “B” pole vault clearing 2.50m after Livvy Connor had taken second place in the “B” vault as well as running a fine 400 metres in 55.68s which earnt her second place in the “A” race.
Team manager Jo Rowland won the shot putt with a putt of 13.18m after placing fourth in the 100m hurdles in 14.71s while Amy Barclay took second place in the “B” hurdles in 14.96s.
