Crawley’s James Westlake chopped some nine minutes off his previous best in the London Marathon on Sunday.
In excellent conditions for marathon running Westlake ducked inside 2:30 when finishing in 60th place clocking 2:29:19 to smash his previous best set in the “London” last year and, I believe, lead the Sussex runners home.
Not far behind Daryl Hards (Phoenix) also squeezed his previous best when placing 75th in 2:30:10.
Gary McKivett (Arena 80) managed to duck inside the first 200 runners placing 190th in 2:36:41 while Martin Barwood (Chichester) recorded 2:36:41 and Dan Anderson (Hastings) 2:41:24.
Katherine O’Hara (Arena 80) appears to be the first Sussex woman to finish clocking 3:04:16 while Katherine Owens (Crawley) clocked 3:05:21, Allison Ellis (Hailsham) 3:07:35 and Hastings youngster Stacey Clusker 3:07:54.
