Parking at The Amex for final Sussex League races

8 February, 2018 By Sussex AA

There will not be any parking at Stanmer Park for the final races in the Sussex Cross-country League on Saturday, but parking will be available at the Amex Stadium.

Runners and spectators etc should stay on the A27 and take the Falmer exit to the Amex car park.

There have been record fields in the League matches this year, but the final match of the season usually produces the smallest fields of the season as some athletes have already completed their three races and two are already assured of individual titles.

Both Jamie Knapp (Brighton & Hove) in the senior and Nicholas Hollan-Ellidge in the U13 have already won three races this season and made sure of winning the league titles whether they run or choose to sit this final race out.

In some cases it will be virtually a matter of running, particularly in the case of Almi Nerurkar (Brighton Phoenix) in the U17 women's, Bethany Cook (Bodyworks) U15 girls' and Tom Eames (Brighton & Hove) in the U17 mens'.

All three have run and won twice, but need to run a third race and finish in the top three to confirm a League title.

Johanna Spannagl (Horsham Blue Star) has completed her three races and is on five points and only Arena 80’s Maisie Trafford can possibly dead heat, but not beat her, if she wins on Saturday.

The other races depend largely on who turns up and runs, and with much sickness around at the moment we will have to wait until Saturday to see who shows their faces.

The team races are generally wide open, so there is plenty to race for.

The League races start at 12.30 with the U13 girl’s race with races for the U11s at 12.00.

The afternoon's and indeed the season’s racing will be completed by the senior women’s event at 14.20 and the senior men at 14.50.

The League medals will not be presented on Saturday as full results will not be available until after the weekend.
