Sussex athletes will be in action at Bexhill and Gloucester on Saturday and Chichester on Sunday this weekend.
It is the Sussex Schools Association’s turn to promote the South East Inter-county Cross-country match this year and teams from Berkshire, Essex, Hampshire, Kent and Surrey will descending on Bexhill Down along with Sussex to contest six races, starting at 12.30.
Because it is a busy time of the year with all the major National, National Schools as well as the National and English Schools Inter-counties coming up within the next few weeks many athletes, who have already qualified for the County teams for the English Schools Championships, will be giving the races a miss.
Several leading Sussex runners, as well as those from other Counties will not be sampling the Bexhill mud but taking a week off from high powered racing.
Sussex however will be well represented in all six races but as usual in these South East battles they face the might of the larger surrounding Counties.
BUCS
In recent years the British Universities Championships have attracted many of the top British Cross Country runners and they, including several Sussex performers, will be in action at Plock Park, Gloucester on Saturday.
Chichester 10km
Because of its location on the border with Hampshire the Chichester 10km road race usually attracts a high class field with many competitors coming from Hampshire and Westwards as well as South West London.
The race starts at 10.00am.
