It was a mixed day for the quartet Sussex athletes at the Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix on Saturday with two having to pull of the competition and the other two racing strong International opposition and running fast times.
Both Charlie Grice (Brighton Phoenix) and Adam Clarke from Hastings, who have been training in Ethiopia with Mo Farah and were due to face him in the 3000m event both had to withdraw, Grice through illness and Clarke through injury.
Lee Emanuel from Hastings had an excellent run placing fifth in 3:38.68 which was inside the qualifying time for the World Indoor championships at Oregon next month. Emanuel was also the first British runner to finish.
Sebastian Rodger from Eastbourne, who had achieved the 400m qualifying time a few weeks back in Vienna, was also squeezed into fifth place clocking 47.09.
Rodger kept his current ranking as the top British runner although Jarryd Dunn (Birchfield) finished in third place in 46.67s.
It is hoped that all four will be in action at the British championships and World championships trials at Sheffield next weekend.
