League Winners on Minimum Points

Five athletes scored minimum points to win this season’s Sussex Cross-country League titles plus two masters who were the only ones to complete all three races in their age groups.

Youngsters Bethany Cook (Bodyworks) U15 girls and Miles Waterworth (Crawley) U13 boys both dominated strong opposition to stamp their authority on their age groups as did Alex Richer (Horsham) in the U17 women though her races were held in conjunction with the senior race.

Indeed both the basic Masters titles were held in conjunction with senior events with Chris Smith (Haywards Heath) winning the overall race as well as the M40 title and Alissa Ellis (Hailsham) placing fifth overall but annexing the W35 League title.

Stephen Ferroni (Brighton & Hove) who had won the previous Senior League race struggled with an Achilles problem and finished sixth overall on Saturday still took the League title comfortably with 6 points while club mate Tomer Tarragano finished third overall on Saturday but won the U20 League title with 4 points.

Caitlin Miller (Hastings), who finished fourth overall in her race took the senior women’s League title.

The full list of medallists are posted in Results.
