Brighton & Hove AC athlete Julia Machin, broke her own British W45 high jump record and bettered the European mark by two centimetres, when she soared over 1.70m at the Southern Counties Veterans' League Final.
Machin was a senior British International who competed in the Commonwealth Games. She has a high jump best of 1.92m from 1990. She also tops the W45 All-Time British lists in the 100m Hurdles, Long Jump, Triple Jump and Heptathlon.
