John Fenn death

7 February, 2022 By Melanie Anning

Sussex County Athletics Association is deeply saddened to learn of the death from cancer of Crawley Athletic Club and County official John Fenn.

John started volunteering at Crawley 20 plus years ago when his daughter Kirsty, a keen athlete, joined the club. His close friend Jim Boyce remembers John as, "A man who liked a beer and cricket, was passionate about football, and was always fair and just."

John was 'that official' who never told meeting organisers that he would be attending Sussex AA events but would always be there. He had a dry sense of humour and was always fun to be around. John lived with lung cancer for three years and continued officiating for much of that time. He will be much missed throughout Sussex.

We send our condolences to his family and friends and to his four children, Kirsty, Bridget, Natalie and Mark.

The family has set up a crowd funder to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Details here: https://gofund.me/ccc62a04
