International round up.

There was a disappointing run from Grace Baker from Hastings in the final of the 5,000 metres at the European Junior Championships in Sweden on Sunday.

Although her best time would have seen her challenging for a medal she was a minute outside her best as she finished back in 16th place in 17:25.92s, the third Brit to finish.

Over in Colombia there was another fast time for Toby Harries (Phoenix) in the final of the 200 metres at the World Youth Games.

Harries continued to improve on his record breaking times in his heat and final and he became the first ever Sussex runner to duck inside 21.00sec when placing sixth in 20.92s.

At Grangemouth in the Home Countries Schools International match there was gold and two silvers for the quartet of Sussex youngsters who were included in the England Schools team.

Joe Fuggle (Uplands) continued his fine form of this season by romping to another impressive victory in the 400m hurdles in 55.24s.

Orla Brothers (Millais), the reigning English Schools 300 metre champion was squeezed into second place by the Welsh runner Eve Williams who clocked 39.42s to the Sussex girls 39.80s.

In the 800 metres Archie Davis (Patcham), who came into the team as first reserve, had a cracking run to finish second behind Kevin McGrath from Ireland who clocked 1:56.50s to Davis who was timed at 1:56.50s.

There was disappointment for the fourth Sussex performer Calum Neil (Tonbridge House), who at his best was good for second place. Unfortunately, as sometimes happens with pole vaulters he failed to clear his opening height.
