Kevin Rojas (Brighton & Hove) made an impressive International debut when he led his English compatriots' home in the Scotiabank Waterfront Toronto Marathon in Canada last weekend.
In pretty rough conditions the thirty seven year old battled through the conditions to finish an excellent ninth in a strong international field in 2:24:53s nearly a minute clear of Kojo Kyerme the next English runner to finish.

Also last weekend the “Bright 10” on Hove Seafront suffered with high, almost gale force winds and it says much for the strength of Crawley’s Paul Navesey who pulled clear of clubmate Paul Westlake to win the event in 53:11s, by two hundred yards. And this was the day after he had battled with the elements on the Downs at Goodwood to finish second in the first of the season’s Sussex Cross-county League events.
It must be remembered however that Navesey was the recent winner of the Anglo-Celtic 100km Plate Challenge event.
Westlake was timed at 53:47s while Ben Savill (Lewes) took third place in 54:48.
Emma Macready from Worthing had given the Sussex League a miss to concentrate on the 10-mile hoping to crack the 60 minute barrier but the wind was too troublesome. She was however a convincing winner in a nippy 60:52s with Emily Proto (Arena 80) clocking 63:41 in second place and Sue Fry from Hailsham, who is in in the F40 age group, third in 63:59s.
