Sussex had a tough time at the South of England U17 Inter-counties match at High Wycombe last weekend when they finished eighth in the men’s match and seventh in the women’s match.
Lillie Franks appears to have been the only winner clearing 1.72m in the high jump.
Tamsin Campbell cleared 3.25m to take second place in the pole vault and there was another second place in the 100m hurdles where Cameron Fillery clocked 13.25s while Edan Cole, Jake Binns and Mary Adenji picked up bronze medals in the Javelin and 200 metre events Cole throwing 50.84m and Binns clocking 22.25s respectively while Adenji leapt 10.99m in the triple jump.
Aaron Judah clocked 2:02.02s in the 800 metres fourth place while Larissa Carter threw 47.33m for sixth place in the hammer event.
Catching up on last week’s Lower Age Groups matches in the Youth Development League, some of the team results came through very late, both Crawley and Brighton & Hove placed fifth in their Premier Two and North East One matches respectively, as reported earlier.
In South West Two Chichester finished second and Horsham Blue Star were fourth in their match while four Sussex Clubs were involved in the North East Three B match with Worthing filing third place, Hastings fourth, Lewes fifth and East Grinstead sixth.
The Weekend
This weekend it will be the turn of the Upper Age group to complete their League matches for this season.
Crawley, who are currently in third place in Premier Two are at home while Brighton & Hove in South/West One A, who are fifth in the League, are also at home and Team Sussex (Lewes, East Grinstead and Haywards Heath) will also be at Withdean and they are in sixth place.
In North East two Horsham Blue Star are topping the League and they will be in action at Dartford while Chichester in South West Two travel to Ealing and are currently lying seventh.
Also on Sunday the Annual South East Under 13 Inter-county championships will be held at Kingsmeadow.
