Following a survey by UKA they have issued the following statement about County Track and Field Championships from next year.
“County Championships 2016 will be held on the second weekend in May [14th/15th].
There will be no alternative date.
The decision was made on the results of the survey I did last week. 75% of counties responded of those over 60% wanted the second weekend so we have gone with the majority. Unfortunately we cannot please everyone.
The only clash of events will be with the England combined events which cannot be moved for 2016. It is hoped in the future that this clash may be resolved”.
AGE GROUPS.
There was a further statement about planned changes to the Young Athletes age groupings which will now remain unchanged.
“It was clear from the responses received that the majority were not in favour of adopting
IAAF Age Groups, and consequently the Rules Advisory Group will not be recommending any change in the current Age Groups to the Board of UK Athletics as part of the proposed amendments to the 2016-18 Rule Book”.
