Toby Harries (Brighton Phoenix) took a silver medal and came so close to gold in the 200m at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Samoa.
The Brighton College rugby player, who would have set a new Sussex 200m record on Tuesday, were it not for excess wind, when he won his semi-final in 20.82s, ran even faster in the final.
On Wednesday he shared the winning time of 20.56s with South African Tiotiso Leotlela, who had already won the 100m title but the South African was adjudged the winner and again the wind was over the limit.
Harries was later to withdraw from the sprint relay team because of a twinge but Phoenix club mate, 1500m fourth placer Archie Davis, took his place and the England team finished fourth.
