Brighton College’s Toby Harries has been included in the Great Britain team for the World Youth Games later this month.
Harries (Brighton Phoenix), who had already been selected to compete in the Commonwealth Games Championships on September has been selected to race over 200m at Cali in Colombia between the 15-19th of July.
Combined Events
Following last weekend’s South East Schools Combined Events championships at Reading Matt Smith (Blatchington Mill) has been confirmed of a place in the final of the Intermediate Boys Octathlon in September.
The Brighton & Hove athlete will join with seniors Katie Garland (Bexhill) and Beth Crocker (Hurst) and Amber Anning (Roedean) who had their qualification confirmed at the weekend.
Youth Development League
There was another team victory for the Horsham Blue Star Upper Age Group team in the third round of the U.K Youth Development League at Dartford at the weekend.
In a tense battle with the home club in Division North East Two the Sussex Club scored 494 points to take the match from Medway and Maidstone who totalled 477.
Horsham are now at the top of the League table with Medway on 13 points but Horsham have an advantage on total points.
In Premier Division two Crawley were beaten by Reading 624 points to 554 points with Cambridge Harriers third and Tonbridge fourth but the current League table has not been published yet.
Brighton & Hove were squeezed into fourth place and South West One with team Sussex (East Grinstead, Haywards Heath and Lewes) in fifth place but again the current League situation has not been published.
Chichester were sixth in South West Two were sixth and again no current League standings.
