Grice off to Australia – – Preview

27 October, 2017 By Sussex AA

Charlie Grice can been assured of a warm spring next year as he has been selected to compete in the 1500m at the Commonwealth Games on Australia’s Gold Coast next April.

Grice missed out on a place in the World Championships team earlier this year as he was beaten in the Trials by three Scotsmen but in Australia he will be sporting the England vest as he had done in the 2014 Games in Glasgow. In Glasgow Grice reached the final of the 1500m where he finished seventh but will, obviously, be aiming on improving on that placing and maybe getting amongst the medals.

Surrey discus thrower Jade Lally, who lives in Sussex and is coached by Horsham Blue Star’s Andrew Neal, has also been selected for the England team and has her eyes set on improving her bronze medal of 2014. Lally actually set her British record of 65.10m in Sydney last year.

Race Walking

The Steyning Open 10km road walk, which was cancelled a couple of weeks back to avoid the high winds, will now be held on 4th November starting at 2.00.

Weekend

On Sunday the annual Arena 80 “Prom” 10k Road Race will be held from Hove Lagoon starting at 10.00am.
