There were gold medals for Sussex Schools teachers Leanne Buxton and Helen Reynolds in the European Master’s Indoor Track and Field championships at Torum in Poland.
Keeping the current British Combined Events success to the fore Buxton, from Brighton added the European W35 Pentathlon title to the World title she won last Autumn and set a new personal best total of 3610 points.
Buxton clocked 9.18s for the hurdles leapt 1.48m in the high jump, her best for several years, putt the shot 11.17m leapt 5.24m in the long jump and clocked 2:31.3s in the 800m.
Reynolds from Crawley clocked 59.89s to take the W35 400m crown and she then added a bronze medal when clocking 2:21.55s in the 800m.
Meanwhile Steyning's V65 Ian Richards easily won both the 5K and the 3000K walk events. In both races he decimated the opposition with winning margins of 1 minute 50 and 90 seconds respectively. Nothing less was expected from last year's World Masters Champion over 10KW and 3000KW.
There was a silver medal for Adrian Haines from Crawley in the M45 800 metres where he clocked 2:10.3s.
