Sussex School's athletes Joe Fuggle and Orla Brothers were selected to compete in the Sainsbury’s School Games at Manchester and did their County proud.
Because of a lack of Geographical knowledge Sussex are included in the South West team and Fuggle from Uplands retained his unbeaten U17 400m hurdles record for this season chalking up a handsome victory in 54.57s.
Orla Brothers from Millais just failed to repeat the medicine in the 300 metres succumbing to Ellie Groves from Guildford, whom she had beaten to take the English Schools title in July, just squeezing home in 39.70s to the Sussex girl’s 39.77s.
European Record
Further to Brighton & Hove’s Amber Anning’s record breaking National title a couple of weeks back it has been revealed that her winning 300m time of 38.73s, in addition to her British U15 best is in fact the fastest ever time by a European 14 year old.
