Fourth for Sussex Girls at Kingsmeadow.

27 July, 2015 By Sussex AA

There was an excellent fourth team placing for the Sussex girls in the South East Under 13 Inter-county match at Kingston in wet and difficult conditions on Sunday.
The Boys also did well placing seventh of the 13 competing counties.

As is usually the case there were few Sussex winners at this event but there was a sparkling double from Horsham Blue Star’s Ella Hannyngton who clocked a windy 11.34s in the 70m hurdles and also recorded a personal best of 1.55m when winning the high jump. This was a tremendous performance in the, to say the least unhelpful conditions.

Adam Lindo from Crawley was not far from his best when he won the long jump with a leap of 4.98m and he also filled fifth place in the 100m in 13.46s.

There was another winning PB for Brighton & Hove’s Adam Firsht in the 800m when he steamed to victory in 2:17.06s ahead of Eastbourne’s Spike Gleave who clocked 2:25.16s

It appears that Firsht’s race was a non-scoring event but he did run faster than the nominated Sussex runners, and also two seconds faster that the winner of the A race and also broke his club’s record that was set in 1982.
