Four Records at Indoors

21 February, 2017 By Sussex AA

The Sussex Indoor championships, which were held in conjunction with Surrey Championships at Sutton over the weekend, produced four Championship Best Performances.

Except in the sprints and long jump entries were disappointing with many events not fielding more than three athletes. The records however were well spread between the age groups with Veteran Clayton Turner (Crawley) setting a new mark when winning the shot putt with 11.60m. His club mate with Lillie Franks clearing set a CBP and with an English Schools standard of 1.73mand was the only woman to claim a CBP,  while Horsham’s Alex Wadley claimed an U17 triple jump CBP with 12.26m and he was also victorious in the long jump with 6.40m.

The fourth CBP came in the U13 long jump where fellow Horsham athlete Edward Crossman leapt 4.34m and he had already won the 60m flat in 8.58s on the first day.

In the U15 high jump Tom Ridley from Worthing equalled the CBP with a leap of 1.70m. There was another good clearance in High jump  in the U17 competition where Harry Reinecker-Found (Brighton & Hove) matched his PB of 1.80m in his first year in that age group.
