The first of this season’s Sussex Cross-country League events will be held at Brighton’s Stanmer Park on Saturday.
Until recent years the first League event was always held at Stanmer when the athletes could frequently enjoy the glorious autumnal colours though the first races were held in October. Many of the leaves will have been shed over the past few days but there will still be much to enjoy as well as the racing.
The League racing starts at 12.30 but preceding these races there will be races for Under 11s at 12.00. Some five hundred runners are expected to compete in tomorrow’s races.
This will be the first of three League events this season but efforts are still being made to hold a fourth race in March. Athletes have to compete in three events if they wish to be included in the final League results.
NOTE.
Just to say the car park is not the one we used last year Bennetts (my mistake I just assumed) it is the Bridge Car Park post code BN1 9PW which is opposite the slip road entrance to the park, under another tunnel past the Keep. From the car park come down cross the road then follow the slip road you will enter the park on your left.
Just to say if you are teams from the west when you get to the bottom of Coldean lane turn left at lights, then at the 1st traffic lights just turn right past the Keep which is opposite the slip road to the park up to the Bridge car park. If you are coming from the East then you go past the football stadium, Falmer station and at lights turn left. Hopefully every one will receive the new car park details as they will be turned away from the Amex stadium.
