Following their fifth place in Saturday’s British League Division two match at Derby the Crawley men will have to put aside hopes of promotion till next season.
Missing more than half-a-dozen of their normal British League athletes they were squeezed into fifth team place after two successive third places.
They are now fourth in the League, with one match to go, behind a rejuvenated Thames Valley Harriers who have 22 league points and take over from near neighbours Harrow who had won to two previous matches.
Kensington Poly and Crawley are on 16 points with Kensington having 891 match points to Crawley 874. They are three League points clear of Nottingham, the only other team to get into double figures.
Jason Hussain and the Lasis boys, who were to turn out for the winning Sussex team on Sunday’s Inter-Counties, were again in great form winning six events.
Hussain, who is in fine form, notched up a fine sprint double clocking 10.96 and 21.28s while Matt and James also completed doubles.
Matt won the hammer throw with 58.74m with James winning the “B” event with a personal best of 54.72m while James won the “A” discus throw with 45.30m and Matt took the “B” event with a personal best of 43.37m.
