It will be Division Two competition for the Crawley Women who were squeezed into eighth place in their final match in Division One of the United Kingdom Women’s Athletic League at Manchester on Sunday.
Several absentees weakened the team that already had its back again the wall as they needed to finish no lower than sixth to survive.
The eventually placed seventh the final League table and will be relegated to the second Division for next season.
They did finish on a high note when Elise Lovell, interim team manager Amy Barclay, Jo Rowland and Kimbely Baptiste fought off League champions Cardiff to win the 4 x 100m relay in 48.1s.
Baptiste had produced one of only two Crawley individual “A” victories of the day winning the 200 metres in 24.10s after taking second place in the 100m in 11.84s.
Rowland had leapt 5.87m to win the “A” long jump, thrown 41.39m for second place in the “A” javelin throw and clocked 15.36s for third place in the “B” high hurdles.
Lovell had finished second in the 100m hurdles in 14.34s, won the “B” long jump leaping 5.64m and finished fourth in the “B” high jump by clearing 1.55m after Livvy Connor cleared 1.60m for fifth place in the “A” event.
Holly Turner won the “B” 100m in 12.22s and finished third in the 400m in 56.46s.
