Crawley, Brighton and Horsham finish second in Southern Athletics League.

6 July, 2015 By Sussex AA

The Crawley team were beaten into second place in their Southern Athletics League Division One match at Peterborough on Saturday and now shares top place in the League with their conquerors Nene Valley although they are still on top through total points.

Scoring 232 points the home team certainly took full advantage of their home fixture finishing well clear of the Crawley squad who totalled 193 with Bedford on 164.5 points.

In the same Division at West London the Brighton & Hove club, who lost no less than seven of their top performers to the National Championships at Birmingham, were also second to the home team, Thames Valley Harriers who scored 215 points. Brighton & Hove totalled 188 points ahead of Milton Keynes 172.5 and Blackheath & Bexley 138.5.

This has lifted the Sussex team out of the relegation zone, but not out of danger, and is now 12th on the 16 team League.

Eastbourne Rovers, in Division Two East finished in third place at Cambridge while there was another second place in Division Three West at Kingsmeadow for Horsham Blue Star scoring 208 points to the home club’s 300 points while in the same League at Salisbury the Lewes/Haywards Heath team finished fourth and at another D3W match at Portsmouth East Grinstead finished fourth and Chichester fifth.
