“Child to Champion” – a blueprint for coaching children in athletics clubs.
This is the first in a series of workshops and courses aimed at coaches and parent helpers within athletics clubs. It’s about children doing the right type of activities, in the right way, at the right time in their lives.
Ask yourself – “are the children joining in an activity OR are they totally engaged and immersed in it?”
By the end of the two-hour workshop you will have had the opportunity to identify your own areas in which you are working well and those areas that could be improved.
Who should attend:
Athletics Coaches who plan and help plan the sessions for children aged 8-12yrs old.
Coaching Assistants, who help run sessions planned by coaches.
Parent helpers who kindly volunteer their time to work with the children.
Everyone will be willing to challenge their own thinking in a supportive environment. They would be interested in helping children to undertake age and developmentally appropriate athletics activities.
What the workshop covers:
Child focussed athletics - organisational, content and coaching practice
When: Friday 29th Sept at Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre, Horsham from 6.30pm to 8.30pm approx.
Cost: £10 to cover venue hire, tea and coffee – payable before the day.
Places are limited to 18 maximum.
