"As far as the Sussex league races are concerned, it was agreed to make all junior races the same up to under 17 level. This involved reducing the boys under 15 distance from 4.5K to 4K. It was decided, however, to keep the senior women's race at 5K which enables the under 17 and under 20 women to run with the seniors and to score both separately and in their senior teams.
"With regard to the County championships, and as the under 17 women have a separate race the main decision related to the senior and under 20 women. Recognising that it was difficult to make changes for the championships last January, it has been decided to run both senior men and senior women over the same 10K distance for January 2020 event. The change agreed is to reduce the men race from 12K to 10K and to increase the women from 6.4K to 10K. This is in line with what is happening elsewhere and Internationally. In making this change it was decided that for the January 2020 championships the under 20 women would run with the under 17 women and score separately. In making these changes and to be fair to the Championship officials the overall programme would be shortened by not including the two under 11 non-championships races.
"Successful changes to the Masters (Vets) Cross Country race distances had been made for the Championships in January 2019 at Coombe Farm where both men and women ran the same distance.
"Following the running of the championships clubs will be asked for their views on the changes. These views will be considered at a Sussex cross country panel meeting in the spring/summer of 2020 to which all clubs are invited."
