Rather belatedly we have now received the team results from the CAU championships at Bedford which I covered at the end of last month.
Sussex did not manage to get truly representative teams out for the championships but Crawley’s Kimbely Baptiste did retain her 200m title as reported and I did miss a splendid discus throw from Chris Scott, who competes for Southampton but hails from Sussex. Scott threw 53.88m to finish in fourth place.
On the team front the Women, who are in Division one scored 38 points to place seventh while the men, who competed in Division two amassed 50.5 points and thanks to encouragement from team manager Noel Butler to register for Sussex, to finish second in their Division and this might result in promotion back to Division one next year.
Overall, of the forty counties who competed, Sussex finished an excellent ninth with 88.5 points.
