Both the Sussex under 13 girls and boys teams were celebrating fantastic performances at the recent South East Sportshall Regional Finals.
The girls collectively scored 424 points while the boys finished on 511, with some impressive individual performances at the event held locally at The Triangle, Burgess Hill.
It was gold for Crawley’s Kaylee Cowell in the speed bounce with a total of 80, silver for Isabel Griggs (Worthing) in the vertical jump (61) and bronze for Seren Rowe (Brighton & Hove) in the 4 lap in a time of 55.0.
Ben Stewart (Chichester) was on fire for the boys winning gold in the shot (10.92) and bronze in 2 lap run in 23.9. Harry Windham (Worthing) also won in the vertical jump (57).
There were no team medals for the under 15s but in the boys contest, Braimoh Bursari (Crawley) took gold in the shot (11.47) and bronze in standing long jump (7.95).
Alongside the regional finals, the under 11s took part in the Sportshall Fun In Athletics event.
In this age group, Sussex enjoyed a bundle of individual medals. Adanna Anah (Crawley) won silver in the girls’ chest push and bronze in the standing long jump, whilst Evie Grobel was 3rd in the target throw as was Enayah Phillips in the vertical jump and Klara Novak-Wightman (Brighton and Hove) in the javelin.
For the boys, Ethan Taites (Brighton and Hove) was 3rd in the javelin and Isaac Machin (Brighton and Hove) 3rd in the standing triple jump.
Thanks to all the Sussex managers (Rhiannon Rowe, Sean Dunford, Amanda Godfrey, Andy Hall, Stephen Gambie and Chad Taylor) who gave time and energy in selecting the teams and being there for the athletes on the day, as well as the officials who helped make the event happen.
