Bronze for Becky at Oxford -Update U15 League

25 July, 2017 By Sussex AA

Becky Owen struck bronze in the South of England Combined events championships at Oxford at the weekend.

Competing in the senior Heptathlon the Brighton & Hove all-rounder was just one of four Sussex athletes in action but both Elise Lovell (Hastings) and Katie Garland (Brighton & Hove) had to withdraw through injuries and it was Owen who snatched third place with a total of 4317 points.

Beth Crocker from Crawley filled sixth place with 3572 points.

In the U15 boys Pentathlon Spike Gleave from Eastbourne just missed a medal finishing fourth with 2647 points with Horsham’s Seb Wallace in sixth place with 2458 points.

UPDATE West Division U15 League:

Janis Long has discovered that there were in fact six records broken at Friday’s Sussex Under 15 West Division match at Broadbridge Heath which is a Record in itself.

I recounted the efforts of Chichester’s Liam Dunne and Crawley’s Erin Bracknell and mentioned the hat trick of Abigail Packham (Crawley) but did not originally credit her with a record in the 75m hurdles where she clocked 11.2sec.

The other three records were also set by Crawley athletes with Millie Noyce putting the shot 11.42m, Adam Lindo leaping 6.00m in the long jump and another Crawley athlete, Poppy Oliver, making full use of a strong following wind to clock a nippy 26.1s in the 200m.
