Brighton & Hove youngsters second at Portsmouth – Preview of the Weekend

5 May, 2017 By Sussex AA

The Brighton & Hove Upper Age Group team notched up a fighting second place in their “Division One B” match at Portsmouth in wet and very windy conditions on Sunday.

They ran a neck and neck battle with the home team before having to settle with second place scoring 443 points to the home clubs 469 points with Southampton in third place on 397 points and Chichester in fifth place with 297 points.

THE WEEKEND

The Brighton & Hove and Crawley Senior athletes are in action with the first of this season’s British Athletics League and UK Women’s matches.

The Crawley men will be in action at Kingsmeadow, Kingston in “Division three” where they will face Bristol & West, Enfield, Herne Hill, Kent, Newquay & Par, Bedford and Chelmsford as well as the host team Kingston Poly in what, on paper, looks a pretty even match.

Brighton & Hove have a home match in “Division four”, albeit at the Crawley AC home track at K2 where they are expecting tough opposition from Portsmouth, Doncaster, Nene Valley, Reading and Trafford. The match will start at 1.00.

The Crawley women have to wait until Sunday for their “Division two” match in the UK Women’s League and have to travel to Wigan for their encounter.
